Seema Kennedy honours Victoria Cross Winner in Bamber Bridge 100 years on

Seema Kennedy MP for South Ribble attended the centenary commemorative service of Corporal John McNamara VC in Bamber Bridge.

The Victoria Cross Winner who saved the lives of many of his comrades near Lens, France, was commemorated with the plaque in the newly-named John McNamara Gardens, less than half a mile from where he was born in 1887.

Seema Kennedy MP said “It was a great honour to lay a wreath in honour of South Ribble son Cpl McNamara whose valour gained him the Victoria Cross, 100 years ago. It is a privilege to know that such a courageous  individual in our history originated from South Ribble.”
