“The delays and cancellations faced by commuters is completely unacceptable. That is why, following recent disruption and further concerns from my constituents, I have written yet again to Northern Rail to make my feelings clear. The service between Preston and Ormskirk is a lifeline for many constituents and each cancelled train means hundreds of delayed passengers, commuters’ jobs at risk and people’s everyday lives disrupted.
I have repeatedly pressed the issue of the poor service with Government Ministers and I will continue to push at the heart of Government for better rail services.
I want to see serious action by Northern Rail to resolve the many issues being experienced by passengers, and my constituents need a lasting resolution to the strike action with the RMT union to provide a consistent and reliable service.”
