I had the great pleasure to attend the opening of the new Accrol Papers factory in Farington. The expansion of the Blackburn-based company into South Ribble is a great vote of confidence in our area.
St Catherine’s Hospice has opened up a brand new boutique shop in Longton. They also have shops in Preston, Chorley, Leyland and Penwortham. I was delighted to officially open the store along with the charity’s chair of Trustees, Cliff Hughes and a number of volunteers.
I recently visited and toured Cardinal Newman College. The visit was a great chance to meet with students, and to discuss with the Principle, Nick Burnham, to college’s needs and future plans. It was a great day, and I look forward to coming back.
I visited the Sue Ryder Neurological Centre to learn about the support and help they are providing to those with neurological conditions and family. It was great to see their wonderful work in action.
I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with Penwortham Town Council to discuss local concerns such as the development of the new Tesco site, local policing and other resident concerns in the area.
After the success of last years ‘Clean for the Queen’ I was pleased to organise a ‘Great Spring Clean’ in Moss Side, Leyland. It is always good to see an area cleaned up and dramatically improved through a few hours of hard work.
