Met with Prisons Minister Sam Gyimah for a very important and pertinent discussion on the conditions for both staff and inmates at HMP Wymott and HMP Garth. I am watching the situation carefully and will continue to engage with the minister regarding this issue.
I was delighted to meet with the team at NCompass who do wonderful work in their support of carers, young people and the provision of advocacy services. The extraordinary difference they make to disadvantaged people’s life ought to be celebrated.
I attended the Great Health Mela in Leyland: it was brilliant to see all the innovative work that is being done in the growing field of healthcare and wellbeing, including Galloway’s wonderful work highlighting the impact of shared spaces on the blind and partially sighted.
I met with representatives from Tesco to discuss both the residents’ concerns about access issues and the opportunities for the local community at the new branch in Penwortham, where building has just started.
I am delighted that after nearly two years of fighting for it, Lancashire County Council are reinstating the direct bus route between Croston, Mawdesley and Chorley. I hope this will provide help and convenience for many constituents.
I met with councillors and local residents for a highly productive meeting to give an update on the Western Drive flooding – a lot of progress was made! Thank you to all involved for your tireless work. I will continue to engage with the Environment Agency regarding this issue.
Brilliant visit to Westshore Chillies, one of the UK’s top chilli producers and a proud part of South Ribble’s vibrant agricultural sector. I learned about the work they do and the challenges they are facing from supermarkets.
