Making our roads safer

Many local residents across South Ribble have written to me to express their concerns about the amount and speed of traffic on their street. I share their concerns over the dangers that speeding vehicles pose to pedestrians and other road users.

I have been written to Lancashire County Council asking that road safety measures are put in place on a number of roads across the constituency. I am pleased to see that Speed Indicating Devices (SpIDs) are being placed on streets in Croston and Penwortham to monitor the traffic speeds, with a view to take any further necessary action to slow the speed of traffic in residential streets.

I have also been carrying out a survey of constituents, asking you if you think there is a problem with road safety in your area and how it can be best tackled. You can fill in the survey below.
